Gelatin silver print, edition of 75

It’s hot in the city, but Marilyn Monroe is hotter, and if you hurry you can catch Lawrence Schiller’s stunning and intimate photographs until June 30th. The exhibit, located at the Steven Kasher Gallery on West 23rd Street in New York, includes fifty prints, some newly discovered, of the iconic lady. We love the addition of contact sheets to the mix, in which you can see Marilyn’s rejections and notes. It’s exciting to see how the photographer worked with his muse, and to see the results, beautiful and laced with the shadow of her death, which occurred only a few months later.
